About tarot, you and me ...
For close on 40 years, I have been reading cards and tarot for people in need of clarity, hope, guidance and support. In the early days, requests for 'card-readings' were made by friends and family and from others, curious and fascinated by cartomancy, at many social gatherings and parties.
Tarot is fascinating; offering relevant and accurate insights, knowledge and understanding for the many different and diverse personal relationship situations, conundrums and problems we experience in our lives. Tarot uncovers what often remains hidden or unnoticed; raising our attention and awareness to the nature and condition of things and people. Readings help us to clarify difficult behaviours, bewildering actions and covert motivations of those directly affecting your life. Tarot is particularly useful for a deeper understanding of relationships and situations that are proving difficult to resolve.
Tarot is an instrument of wisdom and guidance; a personal compass. With the confidence of a gaining a clearer direction, tarot helps you to make better choices and decisions along your path. It puts you back in the driver's seat and gives you a map you can read and follow! Tarot is like your best-buddy, a trusted confidante or kind mentor all rolled into one; to make your journey through life happier and easier. Every tarot reading offers completely unique guidance to practically any and every perplexing personal or business situation.
In the mid-1980's I discovered B.P. Grimaud's 1969 The Tarot of Marseilles, France. The Major Arcana, not present in playing cards, opened the gates to a limitless and fascinating world of Archetypes, symbols, analogy, myth and magic. Pamela-Coleman-Smith’s fabulous illustrations (The Rider Deck Registered to U.S. Games) entered my life a decade later. Her amazing, artistic and meaningful visual interpretations of the full deck of 78 tarot cards has made The Rider Deck my chosen method for tarot readings and classes today.
The tarot is The Fool's Journey and represents us and every imaginable aspect of our own life story. Through the full deck of 78 tarot cards we can witness and understand the full range of human experiences and endeavours. Common to all of us are our joys and adventures, opportunities and challenges, loves and losses, trials and tribulations, hopes and disappointments. The tarot can alleviate our deepest concerns and lead us to realising our heartfelt wishes.
Since 2006 I have been reading tarot professionally, running tarot workshops and teaching classes. From 2008 to 2019 I was an active member of the Tarot Guild of Australia (Interest/Professional) and held positions of Committee member, Vice-President, Professional Membership Transition Coordinator and Transition Team member. For three years over this period, I was the Editor of the T.G.A.'s The Magician Magazine and a regular columnist. In 2013 and 2015 I presented tarot workshops for both of the highly successful International Tarot Conferences in Melbourne. In Adelaide I organised and ran the T.G.A.'s monthly tarot meet-up group for 4 years between 2013-2017.
My work and business career, spanning 3 decades, was as a professional counsellor (A.I.P.C.) and certified business counsellor (A.P.E.C.) and mentor. I am a certified tertiary instructor/educator (M.Ed) in business management, new enterprise employment and development, youth employment programs development, and indigenous business and employment programs. I am continuing my HDR MEd/Phd research on tarot and for which, in the near future, I hope to form a small dedicated group of enthusiastic tarotants as my research population.
