"It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters." Epictetus
For close on 40 years, I have been reading cards and tarot for people in need of clarity, hope, guidance and support. In the late 1970’s I started to get requests for 'card-readings' using normal playing cards, from friends and family who were curious about cartomancy. By the mid-1980's, I had stumbled across an old deck of B.P. Grimaud's, 1969, The Tarot of Marseilles, from France. The Major Arcana, not previously present in ordinary playing cards, opened the gates to the fascinating world of Archetypes, symbols, myth and magic. Not too long after, I bought my first Waite-Coleman-Smith Rider Deck (Registered to U.S. Games). This full deck of 78 tarot cards symbolising The Fool’s Journey, is beautifully rendered with artist Colman-Smith’s intricate and symbolic visual interpretations that captures the life lessons that are common to us all. The Rider deck represents our full range of human experience and endeavours, our deepest concerns and needs and our heartfelt wishes. The Rider Waite-Colman-Smith is my 'go-to' cards for tarot readings and classes today.
I have been reading tarot professionally, running tarot workshops and tutoring small groups of enthusiasts, since 2006. From 2008 to 2019 I was an active committee member of the Tarot Guild of Australia (T.G.A.) and held positions as Vice-President, Professional Membership Transition Coordinator and Transition Team member and representative for S.A. I organised and ran the T.G.A. monthly tarot meet-up group in Adelaide, for 4 years between 2013-2017, and ran my own tarot courses and workshops. For three years, I was the Editor of the T.G.A. The Magician Magazine; and writer of a regular magazine column. In 2013 and 2015 two highly successful International Tarot Conferences were held in Melbourne; for which I presented tarot workshops. I am currently delivering the ‘Taste of Tarot’ beginners classes at the WEA in Angas Street, Adelaide, 5000.
Apart from tarot, I have produced and delivered a broad range of supervisor and business management qualifications, for university and tertiary institutions, independent business associations and registered training organisations. Similarly, I developed and delivered successful pilot programs and feasibility studies for homeless and justice youth, mature adult workforce re-entry and Indigenous artists, in job network, registered training organisations, government councils and departments. From 1984 – 2010, I was a personnel and training manager and internal quality assurance officer and, an operational company director, for an Australian-owned company. I have been variously self-employed in retail, hospitality and wellbeing. My accreditations demonstrate the ethical standards that governs all my work with others.
